About me:
In 1997 I had an idea that came through prayer. The concept was simple: create a web site designed around a new type of housing, one related to earth sheltered in style.
Back then there were not a huge number of people on the internet. True it was just beginning but going to class to learn HTML wasn’t that easy a thing, especially if you had to do it page after page after page.
Then came along a new product introduced in the Netscape package called Netfusion. It was a new idea to build websites from scratch with a what you see is what you get concept. I liked it and learned how to use it and learned how to build a site and learned how to buy a domain and learned how to put upload via FTP a new website and in all of this I learned what I wanted most from the name which God gave me after much research “Earth House.”
The idea for an Earth house was a style of building into the earth for protection. The idea was to build a home that would last a thousand years or more and to take that idea to a place that no one else ever had done before.
Thus began earth house and thus began my journey into an idea where I have learned and added ideas as I have found them on this site.
For those rare individuals who have come here and spent not just hours but days they have discovered part of my secret. Some have taken parts of that journey and built ideas and carried the term earth house from the thousands on Google to the millions today. Of course we were part of the journey and part of the exploration into new ideas that back then were just beginning in their infancy.
The world of Earth House is growing and it is finding its place in the world at large.
I am glad to be a part of it.
I began the journey when I was 39 years of age and now in my 50’s I still dream of the day that someone will say to me “Joel. Here is the money to build your dream house and then to make it a true example of an earth house.” Cost? I think if we have the right people and contractors and people willing to experiment we can do it for 3-5 million but such a house is worth more then rubies in my eyes. For the future and for the dreams of more for man I am part of the journey with you into a new and wondrous world.
